Students in a performance |
Laura Coombes has devised a course of drama studies which brings out the hidden talents of her students. She is a versatile performer herself with a wide variety of drama experience and passes her enthusiasm and discipline to her drama and musical theatre students. The repertoire of children's shows includes Snugglepot and Cuddlepie, The Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan and Wendy, Alice in Wonderland, The Enchanted Wood, Pinocchio, Hansel and Gretel and The Magic Pudding. Musicals include The Sound of Music, The Merry Widow, West Side Story, Fiddler on the Roof, Grease, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Kiss Me Kate, Oklahoma! and Nunsense. Elements in the Course IncludeElements of the course include drama coaching, voice training and projection, mime, movements, creative improvisation, dance, singing, make-up and stage presentation. Studies follow the whole production process from selecting the script, through rehearsals, costume design, scenery and props building, lighting and stage etiquette to the long awaited opening night. There is room for everyone in the theatre, as even the smallest involvement in a production leads to a team effort that will build confidence in young hearts. Classes are held each Thursday afternoon during term. The next production is BARBEE AND THE MAGIC TOYSHOP between April 12-15, 2010 at Leederville Town Hall, followed by ALICE IN WONDERLAND between July 5-8 at the same venue..
